About GANT
Born in 1949
GANT's journey began with Bernard Gantmacher, a Ukrainian immigrant who started a garment business in New York. His sons, Marty and Elliot, founded GANT Inc. in 1949, producing high-quality shirts that embraced the Ivy League Look of the 1950s. The brand's signature details, like the "perfect roll" collar, quickly gained popularity, and GANT shirts were soon featured in The New Yorker. This exposure elevated their status, and the company expanded its offerings, including women's shirts, becoming a symbol of casual-yet-smart style for the growing middle class. In the 1970s, GANT diversified further with American Sportswear. Throughout its history, GANT's commitment to quality and style has solidified its position as a significant player in the fashion world.
